Veronika Povilioniene and Blezdinga: Thursday's Performance Reviewed by Times

Read review

Jon Pareles, the reviewer, provided the following timely words of historical and cultural context:

"Lithuania, along with its adjoining Baltic states Latvia and Estonia, broke from the Soviet Union as the 1990’s began in what is called the Singing Revolution. Its citizens affirmed a local heritage and defied Russian domination by gathering nonviolently to sing, sometimes in the face of Soviet troops."
