The Inspirational Vigilers of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini

Yesterday's New York Times article was accurate, informative and moving, but you've got to view the audio slide presentation. See and hear the vigilers as they proceed with what has become their lifestyle. We are not alone and they are not alone. What an epiphany!

This is very interesting for what it reveals about church closings. This is not an old church by any means and it appears to be in good structural form. In New York and elsewhere they pick churches needing repairs and then cite the expense of repair as a reason for closure; or they completely skewer attendance figures and shifts in urban population.
Visually it seems that the reason for closing this church is sheer financial gain - a solid structure with acres of space around it would fetch a lot of money to pay off sexual abuse settlements. Another pearl of great price!
