Breaking News and Dot 1: Two Carmelite Schools to Close in the AD of NY:Transfiguration and St. Simon Stock

A good friend called me in tears to announce that Transfiguration School up Broadway in Tarrytown is going to close.  Visitors from archdiocesan headquarters apparently came to review the finances yesterday, but gave no hint of the news to come.  Today a separate cast of characters arrived unannounced to share the news.  The Pastor was given a copy of the announcement and the letter that will be sent to the parents.

My friend is sad because her heart goes out the the children, who are given a great deal of care and consideration at this school.  She also is sad for the highly involved Pastor and the teachers who will lose their jobs.

St. Simon Stock School in the Bronx will close, as well.  I thought I heard her say that their church would be closing, too, but this may be a rumor.  Time will tell.

I couldn't find a press release on the AD of NY website, but here is a link to their announcement:
