Our Lady Queen of Angels Update - The Power of Prayer, Persistence and Love

The church has been open for worship about 3-4 years.  It is no longer a parish.  It opens on Saturday from 11:30 AM  to 2 PM for the rosary and adoration.  Mass is scheduled once a month but a priest is not always available.

Said one of the faithful, "I hope we do serve as an inspiration.  It's not over until it's over.  OLQA closed in 2007 and after more than 10 years reopened.  It's not exactly what we wanted but something is better than nothing."

"Growing Disciples" by closing parishes in the Diocese of Peoria

156 parishes to become 75.

The closing of parishes and the demolition of churches is painful.  Rather than revealing the truly causal to parishioners, sharing their grief and helping them through their bereavement, they try to slap a smiley face on the process.  Money is spent on consultants who develop "thematics" from scripture in order to claim the higher moral ground.  Like Mary Poppins, they provide the spoonful of sugar that is supposed to make the medicine go down in the most delightful way.  But does it?
