Celebrated singer Veronika Povilioniene, Lithuania’s leading folk singer, will make her first New York appearance with the Blezdinga ensemble, which is noted for its distinctive harmonies and ancient style of singing. Ms. Povilioniene, who has performed and researched traditional songs for 40 years, has an extensive repertoire that includes songs from her native Dzukija. Blezdinga, specializing in the “country style” of singing, will play traditional Lithuanian instruments and perform regional dances.
