A Sacred Space is Needed in Hudson Square

The same issue of "The Villager" that features Joe's letter also boasts a supplement devoted to Our Lady of Vilnius' neighborhood, formerly "the printing district," now "Hudson Square."

Apparently this area was re-zoned for residential development in 2003. The Starbuck's on the corner of Spring and Varick was the harbinger of these changes and it will soon be enriched, though overshadowed, as Trump's tower looms on the opposite side of the street.

I hope and pray that Our Lady of Vilnius will remain, dwarfed but not diminished, as a symbol of the eternal and a spiritual home for those that are coming to live in the area.
