Our Lady of Vilnius Roman Catholic Church stood on Broome Street in Manhattan at the Entrance to the Holland Tunnel since 1910 Cardinal Egan locked it on February 26, 2007. It was demolished in 2015. I live here even though it is gone

This is such an extraordinary painting. It just stops me right away. What contrasts - light and dark, pure innocent life, and impending slaughter! The lamb is helpless and we feel the same way gazing at it. But one thing seems incongruous to me - that has to be the most unusual halo that's ever been painted! I always ask myself - what is it made of? glass? looks sort of like a little flying saucer! Ellen Halloran

This painting was on the cover of the most recent issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association. I immediately loved it, halo and all.
