The accompanying text invites readers to visit the full post at the New York Times City Room blog, Court Stays Demolition of Lithuanian Churchby Sewell Chan. Text of the page A17 squib:
"The Archdiocese of New York announced in 2007 that would close Our Lady of Vilnius Church, a historic building in SoHo that served the Lithuanian community for more than a century. Now an appellate court has blocked the demolition of the church."

I left a comment on this post on the Times' City Room blog. It has been removed. The comment essentially said that the Archdiocese of New York could make millions and millions of dollars from the sale of this financially solvent parish.

It is really low life to read the gloating nonsense of rhe Cardinal Sin's mouthpiece. God stopped their theft and real estate prices are down. Saulius Simoliunas
Cardinal Egan seems to say very little to the general public. Everything out of the Archdiocese seems to be some formal, hard-edged legally vetted statement from Joseph Zwilling. I think that the AD of NY could benefit from a more compassionate image, at least. Of course if the underlying reality was compassionate, too, we would really have something here!
