Realignment: St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish Closed

I attended the 7:30 PM meeting called by the parish administrator. At the meeting, he announced that he had received a phone call this afternoon informing him that the parish of St. Stanislaus Kostka would be closed.

St. Stanislaus Kostka was well in the black and is associated with a historic brick rectory with Hudson River views on a corner lot .

The Cardinal, Bishop Sullivan and others will convene at 10:00 AM tomorrow at Cathedral girls high school on First Avenue to make the public announcement of the "final" decisions. At the same time, the list of churches on the list for closure under the realignment will be displayed with the final decision as to their continued survival.

Now is the time to form and incorporate The Committee to Save Our Lady of Vilnius. Such committee is needed for legal purposes and to fight in the courts. The parishioners have done an excellent job in gathering the signatures and organizing events. Now the legal fight will begin.
